HOW TO: HAVE A “MINI” LIFE DETOX
THE PREP
First things first, it all starts on Friday night. Get yourself into the comfiest loungewear, order your favorite “Deliveroo” and cuddle up on the couch. Take some time for some “guilt-free-me-time” because tomorrow morning we’re starting fresh.
MORNING RITUAL
Whilst when you are feeling miserable the comfort of your doona could not be more appealing but try to resist the urge to tuck in for a lengthy sleep in and get outside for a refreshing walk. Getting your body moving will release those endorphins and if that’s not enough to make you as perky as Elle Woods it will certainly give you a much needed energy boost. Not to mention some fresh air will help to free your mind after the mental clutter of the week. Afterwards have a wholesome breakfast, aiming for something as healthy as you can to avoid feeling sluggish.
LIFE DE CLUTTERING
Now set aside some time to tidy up life’s clutter. Get out your diary and write down three things that you want improved in your life. They might be small goals like reading a certain book, finally taking that Barre class with your bestie or learning meditation to de-stress after work. Whatever they may be, turn your attention to what’s taking up your time that could be used for these things. Clear out any plans that are more obligation than enriching and schedule your week so that you can see where there’s room to meet these goals. Revisit this ritual weekly to make sure that you’re prioritizing these things and feeling prepared for the week ahead.
NEW LOOK, NEW YOU
No need to head to your local Westfield and drop that credit card, there’s no reason why you can’t shop what you already have hanging in your own wardrobe! Like Carrie’s tulle skirt in that famous Sex and the City wardrobe montage, it’s time to pull out those old classics and give them a re-run. Hit up Pinterest or Instagram for some inspiration and rework those forgotten gems into fresh new looks for the week ahead. Not only will putting together these outfits save some precious time in the morning but it will help you see what may be sitting in your wardrobe that no longer fits with your style. Donate or sell any of these items to help streamline and de-clutter your space.
SUNDAY PAMPER-SESH
Lastly there’s no better way to cap off the weekend than a good “ol’ fashioned” pamper session. Light a candle, shut the bathroom door and pull out your best beauty arsenal. Make sure that you include a good body scrub and moisturizer, and back it up with a mini facial to have you feeling top to toe rejuvenated. Optional extras include bubble bath, DIY mani-pedi and hair treatments. Whatever your choice, use your favourite scented products to recreate that spa-like feel and have you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated for the week ahead.
