HOW TO: MAINTAIN HYDRATION WHILE FLYING HIGH
WATER
We all know flying can dehydrate us as much as a sweaty workout session so be sure to drink plenty of water before and during the flight.
I’M IN LOVE WITH THE COCO
I’ll be the first to admit that drinking water can get boring… SO! I like to mix it up and drink coconut water. It has natural electrolytes and it’s a great alternative to keep you hydrated.
BYO…. WATER BOTTLE
Have you ever been stuck at a security point having to skull down your drink and throw away the bottle you just bought? Next time it’s best to BYO!
If there is no access to clean drinking water at your next destination – you will have to purchase bottled water at the airport, otherwise you’ll find most airports are equipped with filtered water fountains which you can refill your BYO bottle at the gate before departure.
AVOID SUGARY DRINKS
For those who are Coca-Cola obsessed – drinking a few glasses on board may quench your initial thirst but will end up making you feel bloated and lead to more trips to the loo. The high sugar content in soft drinks can contribute to dehydrating your whole body!
SORRY COFFEE LOVERS
A lot of us need that morning coffee fix to wake up and function properly, especially when your flight is departing before you’d even like to admit zzZZzzzz
It’s best to avoid coffee during the flight at least because the effects of drinking it on board can also cause major dehydration.
EASY ON THE A A A A A ALCOHOL
You want to start off your trip with a nice alcoholic beverage on board, because holiday mode is ON! And then there’s the nervous flyers that just drink to calm down… or those that go all out just to fall asleep as fast as possible.
You have to keep in mind that drinking in the sky is definitely not the same as drinking on ground. The aircrafts environment is very dry and when mixed with alcohol you’ll feel dehydrated much faster than usual.
HYDRATING FACIAL MIST
Facial mists are amazing. You can easily apply it under and over your make up without having to worry about smudging. I personally love using it as it gives my skin a fresh boost instantly. Perfect for those long flights!
MOISTURIZER
Considering that you’ll be stuck in a tube of recycled dry cabin air for the next few hours (Errrr gross!?) it’s best to bring along your moisturiser- you’ll need it! Not only will your skin feel better but it will keep you looking fresh throughout the flight.
EYE DROPS
The fact that you most probably didn’t get enough sleep the night before your flight or that you wear glasses – I can’t recommend highly enough that you make sure you pack some of those artificial tears for your eyes. So so soooothing.
LIP BALM
DON’T LICK YOUR LIPS! Just don’t do it!
They dry out even more, especially when your 36,000ft in the air. You don’t want to start off your trip with dry chapped lips. To prevent that keep your lips kissable with lip balm 😉
