WHEN YOU’RE THE ONLY SINGLE GIRL LEFT IN YOUR SQUAD

MEET NEW PEOPLE

I’m not going to be super dramatic and say you should make all new friends, but…you should probs make new friends. Let’s be real, people in relationships tend to be less keen to go out until the wee hours of the morning or try new things, since they’re happy in their toasty little comfort zone that involves lots of early nights, a f***load of Netflix and sex that you don’t have to work for (Resentful? Me? Never!) Anywho, having single girlfriends that you can call for a spontaneous cocktail or go out dancing with is super important when you’re single. Whether it’s asking the new girl from work to lunch one day or reaching out to an old friend from uni that you haven’t spoken to in a while, now is the perfect time to make connections with people that you might not have thought about when you were in a relationship.

ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOUR FRIENDS

Although it might suck sometimes to be the only one in your friendship circle without a partner, particularly at social events when you’re always the odd one out, it’s also the perfect opportunity to work on your friendships. Since you don’t have your own relationship problems to worry about, you can be there 100% for your girlfriends and they will love you for it. Take them out for coffee when they’ve had a bad week at work, or invite them over for facemasks and wine when their boyfriend is pissing them off. They’ll return the favour when the shoe is on the other foot! An added bonus is the slightly smug feeling you’ll get when they talk shit about their boyfriend for not emptying the bin for the 1000th time or forgetting to get them a Valentine’s Day gift. The only man you have to worry about is Harvey from Suits, and he never lets you down…

FOCUS ON YOU

Your friends having less time for you doesn’t equal boredom and loneliness unless you let it. You now have the time to do whatever the f**k you want, whether it be learning French, booking that trip to Tuscany or starting up a blog. Trying new things is also a great way to meet new people, and expanding your circle is always a good thing! Relationships are great, sure, but there’s nothing better than that sense of achievement that comes with knowing you’ve done something great for yourself, or learned something that you’ve always wanted to.

Being the only single gal in your squad can feel like the pits at times, but it’s also a great opportunity to hone your inner #girlboss and find times for the things you never have time for when you’re in a relationship or have a full social calendar. Embrace it and you’ll have way more fun than you think!
