TABLE FOR ONE: SYDNEY HOTSPOTS

TABLE FOR ONE, BEST SYDNEY CAFES FOR ONE PERSON, WHERE TO GO WHEN YOU ARE EATING BY YOURSELF IN SYDNEY TABLE FOR ONE, BEST SYDNEY CAFES FOR ONE PERSON, WHERE TO GO WHEN YOU ARE EATING BY YOURSELF IN SYDNEY TABLE FOR ONE, BEST SYDNEY CAFES FOR ONE PERSON, WHERE TO GO WHEN YOU ARE EATING BY YOURSELF IN SYDNEY

For whatever reason, when we’re travelling overseas we don’t think twice about sitting down by ourselves and ordering that strong, ¾ skim latte. So why is it on our own home turf we feel the need to look overly busy while at lunch alone?

Okay we get it ladies – you’re either working freelance, run your own thang or you have to edit a week’s pile of Insta-worthy photos for your #tbt’s and pretending you have a much more active social life than you actually do – we get you want to show people you’re busy! Question is, what are you taking to your fave coffee shop? Laptop? iPad? Old fashioned pen and paper (big fan) OR do you, like us, love to use this time to catch up on current affairs (by which we mean the lifestyle and travel sections) of the newspaper?  Look to head to spots that supply you with these bad boys, and preferably a communal table or two. Shout out to LUXE in Woollahra for a killer cup of Joe and the daily papers. More food for thought – Flat White, Alimentari, Bread & Circus, Shuk and Jackie’s all offer pleasant, comfortable experiences for your daily needs.

Now, we’re not trying to play favourites. No daytime cafes should be off limits for a solo showing, let your tastebuds lead the way and create your own list of go-to’s. Go forth, explore.

However unfortunately, it’s not all avo smash and truffle oil. Where Sydney becomes a little stingy, is on free Wifi. You can’t swing a bunch of kale in the States without hitting a good connection but for some reason, here at home, cafes with this service are few and far between. Be sure to check on that before heading out for a bite to avoid the, “Yeah… I don’t need wifi… I’ll just write emails to send later… or just play on Word… whatever”. Rookie error.

Eating breakfast and lunch out seems to be a walk in the park compared to dinner. That’s when the “grab and go” takeaway option is at an all time high, often on par with feelings of loneliness and members of the pity party. Head out to venues with a bar dining option such as Riley St Garage in Woolloomooloo or on the other end of the spectrum, pop into Fish Mongers in Bondi for a quick, healthy feed. Or perhaps request a bar stool on the patio of Fratelli Fresh in Potts Point?  Vino in hand, you’re all set.

So there you have it.  It’s time to suck it up Vaulties, just like third period French. We know not all meals travel well… and life is too short for a bad meal.
