SINGLE AND FABULOUS!
Take advantage of ‘me-time’
Guess what? Being single means you have no one to answer to, explain things to or compromise for. If you want to stay in your pyjamas all day long, you can. If you want to crank Justin Bieber songs and dance around your room in your underwear, you can. If your idea of a perfect Friday night is wearing a face-mask, painting your nails and binge-watching episodes of Sex and the City whilst snuggling up to your pets on the couch, well, no ones stopping you from doing so! Embrace the time you have to yourself and learn to enjoy your own company. It’s also the perfect time to try things that having a counterpart would prevent you from doing! You have to learn to love yourself before someone else can, so be sure to make the most of your time alone and don’t forget to spoil yourself every so often!
Put everything you have into your career
This is an important one. If you don’t like your job – quit. If you want to go after your dream job – go for it. If you’ve already landed your dream job – go the extra mile. Being single means you have little or no distractions, so you may as well work as hard as you can and live up to your true potential. Go above and beyond to achieve the results you want to. Put in the hard yards, work extra hours and take every opportunity that’s thrown at you. If you’re completely devoted to your job, you’ll reap the benefits. It’s your chance to find out your limits as well as what you’re capable of, so give it everything you’ve got and don’t hold back!
Travel the world
Set out on a once in a lifetime adventure and visit the places that have been on your bucket list for years. Travelling on your own is a great way to meet new people and immerse yourself in a completely different culture. If you’ve always wanted to go somewhere, step outside your comfort zone and take off by yourself. You can plan your trip around what you want to do and explore the world on your own. You’ll find out things about yourself that you never knew before, you’ll grow as a person and you’ll have the time of your life. Being single means that you CAN drop everything and leave. Nothing is holding you back, so what are you waiting for?
Cherish your friendships
When you’re in a relationship, you’re always trying to meet your partner’s needs and it’s easy to forget about your friends. But your friends are the ones who will always be in your life, no matter what. Singlehood is all about going out with your best girlfriends and making irreplaceable memories with them. If you want to stay out till 3:00 in the morning, you can! Being single is also a great opportunity to expand your social circle and meet new people. You have no worries in the world, so enjoy every moment!
Don’t be afraid to date
If your friend wants to set you up with someone or the guy you met last week asks you out for dinner, say yes – you’ve got nothing to lose! Yes, you might have a few awkward experiences but you’ll also have some really great ones too! It’s all about trial and error, and if you allow yourself to experience different people, you’ll figure out what traits you want (and don’t want) in your next partner. So, keep your options open, because you won’t know until you try!
Develop your identity
Perhaps you lost yourself a little in someone else or in a relationship of the past, being single again means you can re-connect with yourself and figure out the type of person you want to be. Reflect on yourself and think of all the things you have to offer. Which traits do you love about yourself and which ones need a little bit of work? This is your chance to really come to terms with who you are and be a better person.
Take care of yourself
One of the best things about being single is the sudden urge to want to take care of your appearance. Perhaps you want to make your ex insanely jealous or maybe you just want to feel good about yourself! Either way, being single is the perfect time to focus on being the best version of you that you possibly can be. The best way to keep those endorphins rolling is to develop a good exercise schedule. If you’re staying active, you’ll feel good about yourself from the inside out! So hit the gym, start a yoga class or do whatever it is that gets your body moving. Oh, and don’t forget to pamper yourself from time to time, book in a hair appointment or get your nails done. Because, hey, why not?
So there you have it ladies, a small guide on how you can make the most out of being single. Don’t let anyone try and tell you otherwise, because we all need to experience being on our own at least once in our life. So embrace it, because even though it might be tough at times, once you find your significant other, you’ll look back on your single time and be thankful for it!
