FIVE SKIN SUPERFOODS
1. CARROTS
This particular vegetable is your highest source of beta-carotene. Think of it this way – a carrot a day keeps the paleness away! But like anything, be sure to eat these in moderation…you don’t want to end up looking like one (literally).
2. SWEET POTATOES & PUMPKIN
These are staple vegetables to include in your diet. Aside from their high content of beta-carotene, they are a great source of Vitamin A. This particular vitamin assists in the production of melanin, which is responsible for changing the colour of your skin.
3. LEMONS
Another great source of Vitamin A, lemons will help you achieve a natural glow. Try kick starting your day with a warm lemon drink (to make: mix the juice of half a lemon, 1 tsp honey and boiling water). Not only will this help with your complexion, it will flush out any unwanted toxins and minerals from the body – win/win!
4. SPINACH & KALE
Much the same as carrots, these leafy greens are packed with antioxidants and beta-carotene. Mix these into a salad or green Smoothie.
5. APRICOTS
Rich in carotenoids, apricots can transfer the colour of your skin, giving it a rich, tan colour. And if they’re not quite in season, opt for dried apricots (a great snack to have in your handbag).
So, be sure to add these goodies into your basket next time you’re at the supermarket and say goodbye to uneven tan lines…and hello to a glowing, sunless tan that will last all year round.
