YOUR WINTER BEAUTY LOOK SORTED: FLAWLESS FACES, LOTS OF LASHES AND BERRY LIPS
We are sorry, but it is officially time to bring out the winter foundation. Having a face 3 times darker than your body is not a good look. Embrace your paler complexion by first focussing on perfecting your skin… not your foundation base but your base base. Makeup will go on smoother and you will look just glowier in general. If you are not into sheet masks already, we recommend jumping on this bandwagon ASAP. We love Estee Lauder’s Advance Night Repair masks for a hydration boost – this genius mask also plumps fine lines and even’s out your skin tone.
Once your complexion is smooth, hydrated and glowing it’s time for foundation. As skin usually gets drier in Autumn and Winter opt for something a little bit lighter such as a tinted moisturiser or medium coverage foundation. We love Lauren Mercier’s illuminating tinted moisturiser or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua for a hydrated base with just the right amount of coverage and glow.
Late Nights/ early mornings – too many drinks last night? Grab a peach toned concealer to cover those bags and go over the top with cult favourite YSL Touche Eclat to brighten under those eyes.
Want a little bit of warmth to the skin? (We know that the snow complexion isn’t for all of us..) Take a light cream bronzer such as Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel and sparingly (Yes SPARINGLY – We are attempting to warm the skin not make it look like you’ve come back from a vacay in Europe) apply to the perimeters of your face: think hairline, temples, chin and jawline. Warm without being bronzed. That is the aim.
We are summer girls through and through however our love for a berry lip makes winter just bearable. Spend time working out your perfect shade and your skin will magically look clearer, teeth with look whiter and you will somehow look like you have had much more sleep than you may have actually had. (The same rules also apply for the perfect red lip in summer but lets face it, so does a tan, bronzer and freckles….) Our favourite shades are by Burberry (Oxblood) and Dior (5th Avenue) but will so many shades to choose from why stop there? The beauty counters are your Oyster, go forth and browse for your best shade.
Always remember to use a lip liner with a dark lip as it will ensure the colour lasts longer and there will be fewer top ups between meals, drinks and marathon girly chats. Want that crisp line around your lips that makes you look like a makeup pro? Use a lip brush or small pencil brush to tidy the line around your pout with your concealer. You’ve got this!
Choose your own adventure here ladies. Minimal Lashes or Va-Va-Va-Voom lashes. For the natural look grab your favourite mascara and apply to the root of the lashes dragging up to the tip only once. Definition and separation is what we are looking for here. For those who live and die by the lash, grab your favourite mascara (Diorshow, that is all) and just go nuts. Make sure to clean up the eye area with a cotton bud after as we all know the perils of the long lashes and mascara. Make sure to keep the rest of your look minimal and let your lashes and lips steal the show.
