- Beautiful Skin Starts with a Good Base
In order to avoid wearing a shit-tonne of makeup products every time you leave the house, you need to invest in your skincare routine. Every night, you should remove your makeup with a micellar water, then thoroughly wash your face with a good quality cleanser and facial brush, especially if your skin has been covered in makeup all day. The double cleanse is key to remove all the dirt and grime that has built up in your pores after a long day. You can also swipe a toning lotion over your face with a cotton pad to ensure your skin is totally clear.
Follow with an antioxidant serum, hydrating facial oil and night and eye creams to thoroughly moisturise the skin. Although this might sound like a lot of products, it’s a luxe pampering routine that will become enjoyable once you start to see the results on your skin! It will also ensure your skin has a fresh, clean and smooth base when you go to apply your makeup in the morning.
- Skip the Morning Cleanse
After the deep cleanse you did the night before, there’s no need to cleanse your skin in the morning. Simply swipe a cotton pad soaked in micellar water over the skin and, if you have the time, quickly apply your serum, facial oil and eye cream. Otherwise, you can skip this step and go straight to your moisturiser. A hydrating day cream is best to provide a priming base and ensure your makeup sits nicely on your skin.
- What Makeup?
Following the mini-facial you treated yourself to the night before, only minimal makeup will be necessary for the day ahead. Apply your choice of BB or CC Cream or Tinted Moisturiser to the whole face. If you’re after an extra glow-y look, mix a little liquid illuminator in with your base. Then dot a brightening concealer under your eyes (pat in with your finger to ensure it sinks completely into the skin). Next, apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks (no complicated brushes needed!), fill in your brows with a brow gel or pencil and curl your lashes before applying mascara. Simple, no-fuss and a natural look that is perfect for the office or lunch with your girlfriends.
- Dry Shampoo, Dry Shampoo and More Dry Shampoo!
Let’s face it, who has time to use complicated styling tools in the morning? Either wash your hair the night before and let it dry overnight, or spray some dry shampoo on your roots and at the back of your head before hitting the hay. This will ensure it really sinks into the hair and you will wake up with clean, bouncy strands. Spray in a little extra in the morning before you head out the door and really work it though the hair with your hands for some extra oomph.
