The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Detoxifying After The Holidays

 

  1. CITRUS WATER

One glass of warm water with lemon first thing in the morning. We know, you’ve heard it all before! How could something so easy actually work? BUT IT DOES. The lemon helps your body to kick start the digestive system and to boost your auto immune system that inturn, cleanses your liver (AKA the aforementioned Beers, wine and tequila shots).

HINT: Cut up your lemons for the week on Sunday, stick them in a snap lock bag and pop them in your fridge for easy access during rushed mornings.

 

 

  1. MAGNESIUM

Did you know that 80% of adults are magnesium deficient? Not sure why this is a problem? Magnesium assists in decreasing muscle aches and spasms (ahem, New Year fitness routine…hint hint) helps to support the nervous system to reduce anxiety (Insert: Overloaded work inbox after 2 weeks holidaying?) and can assist in reducing the symptoms of PMS. It also assists in reducing water retention, which after weeks of carb loading and drinking will leave you feeling slimmer without having to break a sweat.

HINT: Take before bed for the best results

 

 

  1. GREEN TEA – T2 Budda’s Tears

If you aren’t on this bandwagon already then you are seriously missing out. Antioxidants. Improved Brain Function. Increased Fat Burning, the list goes on and all in just 2 big cups a day. Could it be any easier? Plus, these ones from T2 are so much fun to watch open in your cup.

HINT: Too hot for tea? Make a big pot, put it in the fridge and drink throughout the day with ice, lemon and mint.

 

 

  1. EXFOLIATION

I’m sure you are all aware by now that your skin is your body’s largest organ. To restore your body to its “pre-party self,” spend a few minutes scrubbing your limbs in the shower to reveal smoother more even-toned skin. The grainer the scrub the better as this will encourage blood flow and assist in reducing cellulite (ahem, no complaints on our end!).

HINT: Try Frank Bod for your morning coffee hit. Not so pricey and rinsing your limbs clean of coffee granules is oh-so satisfying.

 

 

  1. WATER (Yes, you’ve heard it this one before but do you drink enough?)

You know it. Your mum told you. Your Mum’s Mum told her. But now you are hearing it from us. Keep a one litre bottle on your desk at work and make sure you refill it at least once throughout the day. Drinking water assists your body to detoxify in a million and one ways and also reduces water retention. You will know you are doing it right when your skin starts to glow.

HINT: Add Cucumbers, mint or lemon (or all three) to change it up if you are struggling to get through your 2 litres.
